Kristin Lizabeth Sweet

Yesterday for Kristin's birthday post, I forgot my jump drive in order to add Kristin's school picture for 7th grade. I have also included her school picture from Kindergarten.

It totally amazes me how much she has changed. I am such a proud mom!!! (nah, you can't tell)

Halloween at CCS-Inc.

Happy Halloween

Here are some pics of the girls and I being silly at work for Halloween:
I am Hilary Clinton

My boss Mandy is Sarah Palin

Co-worker Angie is Obama

Co-worker Heather is McCain

The last pic we recruited fellow co-worker Tony as "Joe the Plumber"

We were handing out campaign stickers to everyone coming in to work.
Funniest thing of the morning: We wore "I VOTED" stickers and this one guy came up to me and said you voted? uh no . . .

Happy 13th Birthday Kristin!!

Happy Birthday Kristin

It is hard to believe you are 13 today! It seems like yesterday I was bringing you home from the hospital.

Kristin Lizabeth Sweet

Born: October 30, 1995
Time: 1:14am
Weight: 7lbs. 12 oz.
Brown Hair
Blue Eyes

Kristin loves HSM (High School Musical), Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana, SIMS, her laptop and riding her four-wheeler. She loves her dog Stewart more than anyone could ever imagine. Her favorite foods are macaroni and cheese, pasta with shrimp and marinara and anything chicken. She is a candy-a-holic and seems to really enjoy school. Kristin goofing off with her dad.

When Kristin was born, the big box office smash was Toy Story by Pixar. The top song of 1995 was Fantasy by Mariah Carey . The price of gas was $1.56 and the President of the United States was George W. Bush (ugh).

Welcome to the teen years, we love you!!

BRRRRR....

It has been VERY COLD here in Southwest VA.

I went outside this morning at 6:30am and this is what I saw:

UH HUH. . . .SNOW flurries. I was SOOOOOOOOO excited. Funny thing though, as JD was leaving for work I said to him, wouldn't it be cool if it was snowing. He laughed at me and said, yea right.

I showed the kids the snow pics and Matt said, "That should be enough to close school!" UH NO. Here they really don't close school...just LOTS and LOTS of 2 hr delay days.

Here is another pic but it is harder to see: (click the pic to enlarge and you can see it better).

I LOVE SNOW!!!!!

Saw V

This past weekend, the Sweet Family ventured out to Christiansburg, VA to the movies to see Saw V.

This was a GREAT movie that we all enjoyed however, knowing before we went there is a Saw VI in the works was a little bit of a let down. However, the previews before the movie started just had to show a couple great teasers.

Be on the lookout for My Bloody Valentine 3D. It looks AMAZING!!!

After the movie, we took Kristin to dinner for an early birthday Linner (Lunch and Dinner combined since we got there at 3:30p) at Macado's. The food was great but the service sucked. I have never been a waitress but, if I was and I was taking care of a group that literally just received their meals and their drinks were empty, I don't think I would say, "did you want something else to drink?". No thank you, I want to gag my food down! J/K..hehehe

Upon returning home, we managed to see the Hokies try so hard to gain a WIN but they fell short. However, HOW 'BOUT THEM SKINS!!!!

Daddy's dreams come true!

Daddy's little girl (and his wife) have expressed interest in going hunting!

JD was almost brought to tears when he heard her say she would like to start hunting. Matt of course, rolled his eyes but JD, WHOO... he look like a kid in a candy store when she said it. He ran and got the gun and bullets and began giving her "safety" lessons and instructions on shooting, etc... it was so cute!

She shot about 25 rounds and hit 4 on the target. Not bad in my book for a first time. I shot 1 round and hit the target. . . .dead ringer! My son was in awe at how good I was. Then he was mad when I shot his bow and hit almost dead center of the target. (really he was mad at the fact that I could pull it back).

I am also going to venture out into the woods this weekend to begin learning the fine art of hunting. My plan is to bow hunt. JD is again, very excited. He didn't know how to act when I told him I wanted to start hunting. BUT (yes, there is a BUT in this equation), I told him I could NOT be involved in the gutting, skinning, etc.... eeewww...!

Kristin said it best, "Mom, you are too much of a girl to do that." My reply was, YES I AM!

I looked at Kristin and told her that I could not wait to go buy her her first Camo outfit for hunting. She replied with: ME TOO! I can't wait to accessorize my outfit with a headband, earrings and makeup. I wish I could have captured JD's face! Matt did the usual rolling of the eyes and laughed.

A beautiful sunrise on a brisk morning.

Still 15 and 6 months!

Well, Matt failed the learners test. JD takes him to the DMV because he said he had studied the book and knew he was ready. He took the online practice test and aced it so we believed him.

He failed on question 2. Once we knew what question he failed on, we knew he didn't study or just totally does not pay attention to SPEED LIMIT signs. UGH . . . the question was a speed limit sign with 45 miles on it. He put it was the minimum speed in that posted area. We both busted out laughing because of his response, "Well, the cops let you go 5-10 miles over the limit". He was serious, that is why it is so funny. Oh well, I get two more weeks of peace from his driving me around. Actually, he is a great driver, its Kristin I am totally worried about!

Melis: thanks for the info about teaching him to drive better than me...hehehe. Now what would you possibly be referring to? ;o} Actually, I drive the speed limit and pretty much obey the traffic laws. Tickets are too expensive and the faster you go, the more gas you waste! However, that doesn't mean I don't inform dumb driver he is #1 on occassion.

15 and 6 months

OMG . . today is the day. Today is the day my baby, my first born is going to test for his learners' permit. Is it selfish of me not to want him to drive? Selfish to not want him to grow up so fast!

Now I believe is when the tough times are ahead when he always wants to drive to the store, mall, etc... UGH, I don't know if my heart can take it!

On another tangent: our jack russell Stewart loves to have his picture taken! Totally a ham! On Saturday, I was trying to take a picture of our black lab Max, Wouldn't you know Stewart managed to be in another one ~ Silly dog!

Whew, that one really flew by!

This past weekend was great. The weather was amazing and it was overall good times!

JD and I of course went out and had a great time. I just wish one time I could go out and nothing "weird" would happen. To sum it up: Downtime Roanoke is a DUMP! OMG, I was totally waiting to hear gunshots.

We did eat at Hooters and the food and service were fantastic. We got to the Center for Performing Arts Theatre at the Roanoke Civic Center and sat in the parking lot for a bit to check people out. That was the first eye opener. We then ventured inside into a very nice theatre. Upon finding out seats (which were horrible), we settled in not knowing what was in store.
There was one opening act and his name was Alex Reymundo and he was absolutely hysterical. Here he is signing autographs on his comedy CD. I tried to get better pictures but he was so hyper.

In front of us sat a young couple that I think thought they were at the Motel 6. The lady beside me was talking about her new knees and constantly blowing her nose...eeewww. Then we had a smart ass behind us that the more he drank the louder he got; moron.
And then . . the drunk couple. They were so embarassing. The couple directly behind them put up with it for a LONG time. Then, he leaned forward and I didn't hear the conversation but I can imagine what was said. After they just about got into a fight, they decided to leave. Gawd, she was so drunk she apparently couldn't remember who she was there to see since she kept yelling out Get' R Done... uh, thats Larry the Cable Guy you LUSH! As she got up to leave, her pants fell down and her left boob was hanging out. Her boyfriend decided to tell the man behind him goodbye by showing him he was # 1; numerous times. Then he grabbed himself, cussed him and again doubly told the man that he was still #1. He then stumbled down the stairs never to be heard from again!
One couple brought their little boy (no older than 8 ). I am sure they don't remember much of the comedy due to spending more time running in and out of the theatre due to the vulgarity and subject matter. I guess the wording on the website and the ticket, FOR MATURE AUDIENCES didn't ring a bell with them. I will say that Ron White was at his BEST! I love his comedy and enjoyed every minute of it but I know if the lights were on, you could have seen me blush! WHEW!!! Some of his material is just brilliant!

The show was over at 8:50pm. We had no longer pulled out of the parking lot and hear eerrcchh, BANG! Two cars behind us someone slammed into the back of another car. It was horrible! I totally freaked out but was glad it wasn't us!

Upon arriving home, both kids were in bed! We were so sad because we wanted to share in our excitement of our night!
Sunday was SPORTS watchin' day!

Here is Matt's stuff as he was watching his WVU Game. He does this every time he watches them!

Also, GO REDSKINS!!! Its nice of you to finally give your very faithful fans a winning season. The last time the Redskins were at the superbowl was in 1992. Therefore, we have been OH SO PATIENT; we want a superbowl!!!

We watched some of the race at Talladega but a Red flag on lap 14 took out most of the drivers so we totally didn't want to watch any more!
I went outside exploring nature as it begins its decent into Fall/Winter hibernation. Here are a few of my pics:

I also picked some acorns, seed pods and berries for an old jar in the kitchen; love the orange and brown.

I LOVE FALL!!!

They call him Tater Salad!

Saturday night, JD and I are venturing out on a "date night". We haven't had one since last December when we attended his employers' Christmas Party. Therefore, we are in serious need of some adult cohabitation! http://www.tatersalad.com/

We are going to dinner, visit some local shops then its off to see Ron White. Many of my co-workers have been so kind as to suggest some fabulous dining hot spots in Roanoke, however, as some of you reading already know, the Sweets' are not into the hoity toity food; therefore, we felt that an evening of Hooters (Beer and Chicken wings . . . hell yea) would be more fitting for the night. MMMM love me some Buffalo Shrimp!
