Thank you Jamie!!!

I wanted to send out a thank you to Jamie for the heads up on the $1 flip flop sale at Old Navy. My daughter and I managed to get stocked up!!! If it wouldn't have been for your blog, I totally would not have known about it!

The fawn we have been seeing is a twin!

We saw them both for the first time with momma. She didn't let them stray more than 2 feet from her. It rained all day yesterday (WHHOOOPPPIIIEEEE!!!) so they were only out for about 5 minutes.

We are trying to come up with names for them since we named her momma and her twin Foxy and Roxy. So far, we think we will call them: Ellie and Nellie! (since we don't know if one or both are fem's, we will stick with these until we see otherwise).

What my home has become!

Interesting tidbit: The company that replaced our well pump and motor noted that it was locked up due to being struck by lightning. Can anyone say - Home Owners Insurance! WHEW...

Well, just when all was going so good...I got home from work yesterday to a house with no water. The repair man came this morning and we need a new well pump and motor. Apparantly it was struck by lightning.

Of course it happened to us. In case some of you don't have a well and don't realize the significance/impact on our checkbook: $2000.00. Oh the joys of our home!

MMM Berries!!

Sunday I decided to put my berries to use! I made raspberry muffins, blueberry muffins, a blueberry pie and raspberry jam.

Tonight I will go out and collect more berries for more jellies and jams.

Also: We had a birth! One of our twin doe deer (we named them Foxy and Roxy) became a mother last week. We have only seen her little one once and boy is he/she cute! Full of spots and new to walking!

Interesting tidbit: Last year when we moved in, I saw Foxy and Roxy when they were fawns full of spots; therefore this is quite exciting for us to see them as moms. I just hope when hunting season comes around, Matt doesn't kill one of them!

New Job!

Day one: I was SO nervous that I literally made myself sick on my stomach and had a horrible headache. However, everyone is SUPER nice and easy to speak to! I went home and crashed! I actually had to work for a change. I love the challenge of learning new things and learning them quickly!

Day two: Much better day! A lot busier however very eventful. When they assigned me a entry key-card, the man responsible deleted everyone else out so only I had building access. It was funny - one of those you had to be there.

Things to look forward to: Every Friday is ice cream day. YEP - Corporate stocks the freezer with tons of ice cream.

I will say that my last day my "new" and only friend here in the NRV, MANDY, took me to lunch for my last day at Macado's. It was FANTASTIC. I think it may even be better than Chili's? (I haven't had Chili's in about 1.5 years so I guess, I have to move on).

uh . . BRRR!

I cannot believe that it was 45 degrees this morning going to work! Wasn't it just last week that everyone was sweating and feeling like our skin is falling off!

I don't mean to be a winer and no I don't need any cheese with my wine but come on! I would just like to see some rain!

Well, my last day with Danaher Motion in Radford, VA is on Friday, June 20, 2008 and I will embark on my new career at CCS-Inc in Christiansburg, VA as the Operations Administrative Assistant.

I am very excited as this is a position that has growth opportunities and is exactly what I have been looking for. I will be working primarily with Logistics, production, shipping and receiving; which are all areas I have been exposed to in previous positions I have held. Another interesting tidbit which I feel is my benefit, it is a newly created position.

Once I have worked there a couple days, I will give you the scoop on how things are going.

It's berry pickin' time!

This weekend was great! It was the official start to my "berry picking". I am hugely addicted to picking berries; blueberries and raspberries and blackberries! After the blueberries and raspberries are done comes blackberry season . . umm mmm mmm!

It sounds weird but I seem to be in my element when I am out venturing for these little guys! Luckily my blueberries are right in my yard so thats easy picking; well, as long as the deer don't beat me too them! The raspberries aren't as easy. The worry of snakes is on the list but not as high up as the poison ivy. We have nasty vines of the stuff everywhere. However, nothing stops me. JD decided to scare me on Saturday evening by throwing rocks into the woods making me think it was a snake. However, it didn't stop me. Well, not yet at least since I haven't seen a snake yet. Kristin did however see another snake last Friday the 13th but all we could see was his outline in the dirt where he lay sunning his skin.

We are also getting lots and lots of radishes and spring onions from the garden. This weekend was the first time we got peas. We don't have many since we haven't had any rain. We finally got rain on Saturday evening however, I think the peas may be done. Therefore, I am going to replant them this weekend!

On another tangent, Matt and I watched the movie Sleepers Saturday night. I, of course, had seen it before, however, Matt had not. It was so refreshing for him to understand the story and realize how tough things were for kids. As I sit weeping for these children, he never once laughed at me for crying. He merely put his hand on my knee and said, "That sure is sad. I can't imagine what is going through their minds."

"It's Raining Jobs . . Hallelujah!!!"

It's amazing that my fortune cookie from dinner last friday (and persistence) are finally paying off.

Fortune: He who seeks will find

I have been looking for gainful employment here and as I have posted previously, have NOT been very successful. Well, my luck is changing. I have an offer for one job and a phone interview (follow up to last Friday's interview) today for the second position.

It looks like after 15 months I may have a new job! I will keep you posted as to which position I decide to accept as they are in two totally different industries and two totally different positions. I just hope I make the right decision! Pros vs. Cons for both positions are running neck and neck.

Thank you to all my blogging buddies for your continued support.

The Graduate

Danukus Zachariah Mumaw

Class of '08

Another interesting tidbit about Danukus, he and one other student received plaques for 13 years of Perfect Attendance! I was blown away. To me, this is an amazing accomplishment! Two students out of over 300 with perfect attendance! WHOA!!!!
On another School Note:

2008 is my 20 year Class Reunion
I cannot believe I have been out of school for 20 years.

When I saw previews for Swingtown, I thought it looked so stupid.

However, I have been corrected. I totally enjoyed Swingtown (especially the music) and will be adding this to my "must see TV" lineup.

This show reminds me of Three's Company meets Melrose Place. Extra benefit: Grant Show! (Even the pool looks like the one from Melrose).

I hope next weeks episode keeps me hooked!

Fingers Crossed!

When it rains, it pours! In this case, that is a good thing. I had an interview last Friday and I have another one tomorrow. I am hoping something good is coming my way!
(Why shouldn't I think that, I've only had a slew of bad luck lately . . . ) I also received a call last night from another company but I have to go in for skills assessment testing. Therefore, it has been very busy on my job search ventures! I'll keep you posted!

New Layout!

Well, I have been blogging for almost a year but I felt my page needed a new layout. I am trying to change my header but for some reason, I can't get my current header to delete! Can you tell that my favorite colors are Pink and Green?

Upon arriving home from work yesteday, I noticed both kids running towards me with papers in their hands? AH - Report Cards! I was absolutely blown away with how well both children did. Matt had two A's, three B's and two C's for the year. His two A's bring up the two C's to B's and he made the honor roll for the year! WOO HOO. Kristin had one A and six B's for the year. SHE MADE THE HONOR ROLL FOR THE YEAR!!!!!!!!HOLLA!!!!!!!!!!!! Words do not express how proud we are of her. She has NEVER made the honor roll for the year.

Kristin is now talking about going to college. We are totally shocked! This coming from a kid that asked me about a year ago if she had to go to college to work at Victoria's Secret. HEHEHE (no, just give mom a huge discount)

This picture is of a tiger lily that is in our backyard. I have named it our "Hokie Lily" as it is Burgundy and Blaze orange!

Pictures to Share!

Here are a few pictures that I have been meaning to post but have been totally busy.

Father and Daughter

The next pictures are from our pond. These are Lily Pads that I bought last year from Walmart for a reasonable $5.97/plant. You put the plant basket in the water and wala'. No pulling them out for winter storage. My kind of plants!

These are pictures of our garden. Thanks to "Mother Nature", it is growing like crazy. This is a picture of the corn and popcorn.

This picture shows the many rows of peas. TO the left of the peas are radishes and carrots and lettuce(which you really cant see yet). This picture shows you half of our garden. The other half is occupied by Green Beans, Cantalope, Watermelon, Pickling and regular cucumbers, squash and zucchini. I have also planted gigantic sunflowers that are just about 5" tall. I have never planted the gigantics so I am excited to see what they do. I remember as a kid having sunflowers in our garden and I just loved looking at them!

This picture is hard to see but it is the many different types of pepper plants - habanero, red chili, mexibells, cayenne, green, banana pepper and jalapeno's. (in the front) and the many tomato plants (in the back).

What to do?

Living in Barren Springs, VA (or as I call it Podunk, VA) there really isn't a whole lot to do. Therefore, the Sweet Family hung out at the homestead this past weekend. We cleaned house, mowed, gardened, played and watched a couple movies.

The first one we watched was Untraceable with Diane Lane. This was a good movie but it started off very slow and had a crappy ending. The second movie was Alvin and the Chipmunks. This was absolutely the cutest movie I have seen in a long time. I enjoyed it so much, I watched it again!
My nephew Danukus is graduating from James Wood High School Friday night therefore, the kids and I are making the trek to Winchester for his graduation party on Saturday. We will only be down for a couple hours then its back home. It is so hard for me to believe that he is graduating. He is currently working at Sonic so if you stop by and see him, say hello for me!!! ~smile~
