If you haven't seen this movie, you must! I LOVED IT! Since I have seen HSM and HSM 2, I figured what the hey, I might as well. Not only is it cute but John Travolta is a riot!
I especially loved the cameo appearance at the end!!!
On another tangent, if anyone eats Lean Cuisines for lunch, you MUST try this one! I could eat this every day (and just about do). It is SOOOO good! Interesting tidbit, as I was eating lunch yesterday, I thought to myself how good the broccoli was. This made me fade back to my childhood sitting at the dinner table and absolutely "grossing out" at the broccoli as it tasted bad, it stunk and it looked unappetizing! I couldn't figure why until I really thought about it. My mom would literally "boil the piss out of it". Those were the days! I now want to try steamed asparagus because she would boil it as well and I really think steaming it may be great! If anyone has had boiled asparagus then steamed asparagus please let me know which is best? Also, if steamed tastes like boiled, I'd like to know that as well! Thanks!!!

A little of this and a little of that

This past weekend was busy! Friday evening we split wood, Saturday we burned brush and Sunday - JD painted.
The weather was cold but since there was no wind, we were able to begin the "brush burning" ritual. We have lots and lots and lots of trees that during winter have lots and lots and lots of broken branches and instead of trashing up the woods, we burn them! Another good thing about burning is the ashes we have after all is burned down goes into our garden! After finishing the burning, I passed one of our flower beds that is still covered with last years leaves and could not believe what I saw. Now, anyone that knows me fairly well knows that I LOVE Winter!!! However, after seeing this, I am ready for Spring! I'm hoping it's a sign.

Have you ever done something that you couldn't believe you did? You know you did it and honestly thought what you were doing was right; not stopping to think of the outcome? Well, I did it! I was cleaning one of the bathrooms over the weekend (which still has some previous owners' remnants in regards to painting over outlets) and decided to try to clean the old paint off. Realizing that bleach works on everything, I proceed to spray on and into the outlet. I take my rag to begin removing the old paint and ZAP... Yikes! Smoke comes out of the outlet. However, it didn't fry it . . only me! I actually even kept wiping over it, still feeling jolts, but needing to get this paint off! I hear my husband coming and I decide to fess up (only because I wanted to make sure I didn't really screw things up). As I confess, he just shakes his head and says, "Smoke? Smoke came out? Smoke? Yes a little smoke. He then managed to inform me that this was the dumbest thing I have ever done! Well, not in those exact words, but you get the point.

He painted Kristin's room this past weekend and it really looks nice. We are almost finished! (I know, I keep saying that but it is true: Den, Kitchen, entryway (w/laundry) and 1/2 bath). Kristin's room is called Palm Breeze. The den and kitchen colors are really making it hard on us but we have narrowed it down. We are really hoping to be finished soon as my family is coming for Easter. After Easter means getting the garden ready and getting all of the "yard" equipment maintained for the season and opening and cleaning our pond!

WHEW, I am a little wordy today. After reading the post MelisB had about she and her sister watching High School Musical, I had to write about this. If you have read any of my posts, you would know my daughter LOVES Zac Efron. Let me reiterate her obsession: Zac pillow, folders, posters, movies, books, buttons, Zac hairspray calendar, laptop name is Mrs. Zac Efron, elastic arm bands and the infamous letter T she wears around her neck that is for Troy Bolton (Zac's role in HSM). I watched HSM a couple months ago and actually enjoyed the movie. Yes its corney, but very cute. Noting that it was a musical which is right up my alley. (LOVE Barbra Streisand movies). I just watched HSM 2 for the first time 2 weeks ago and honestly could not believe that they scored again! IT is very cute. The funniest thing about this whole HSM genre is my son Matt. He has watched this movie as much or more than Kristin. He will stand up and sing and act out the dances to the songs. I have gone as far and listening to the HSM 2 cd everyday on my way home from work. My daughter has gone as far as telling me that HSM 3 is in the works and is to be out in October. I guess Matt and I will "drag" ourselves to the movies with her. (hehehe = drag).

Lastly, I am sending THANKS to Katie for posting about starting books and not being able to finish them. I had about 1/4 of The Choice by Nicholas Sparks to read and FINISHED it this past weekend. (I read at the fire, I read going to town to run errands, I read and read and read). Last night at 7:45pm, I finished it! I honestly teared up quite a bit. It was a beautiful book and can't believe it took me so long to read this one. Thanks again Katie, I feel complete!

Great eats!

This past weekend we went to dinner in a nearby town called Hillsville. Some people that JD works with mentioned how much they enjoyed the food and atmosphere and I can honestly agree with them. This was one of the best meals I have ever had and it was not pricey at all. One of the things I loved is the "cooked to order".

Matt was super embarassed by me taking pictures. Honestly, embarassed by me? Is he new? I have also included a pic of Kristin as a friend of mine really wanted to see a close up of her. (Well Theresa, does she look the same?)

Sunday was an R & R day totally. After sleeping in until 9:00am, I cleaned the house then headed outside to do a little yard work. There was an 80% chance of rain all day so we didn't really plan on doing a whole lot outside or inside. The rain didn't start until around 9pm or so and boy did it rain! Poured is more like it!

JD and Matt watched the Daytona 500 while I watched re-runs of America's next top model. I really didn't watch the race because I would much rather be there than watch it on tv. I did however hear the entire race as they had the surround sound set to the "be at the race" setting. You know, the TOO DAMN LOUD setting; its the same!

The Love Spud

Last Friday was kind of eventful. We were first treated to this beautiful sky! I honestly cannot believe how excited I can get over nature? Weird for me . . .
I was getting ready to make dinner and upon pulling out a brand new bag of potatoes, the first spud that came out was one we named "the love spud". Isn't it cool?. I then explain to the family my excitement that I picked up the bag that had the "love spud" in it. The spud now resides in my kitchen window and I admire it daily. My husband has reminded me numerous times that I will eventually need to use the potato. However, I have decided I will eat it on Thursday, February 14, 2008; VALENTINE'S DAY!!!! Makes sense to me ~ honor thy love spud!
On Saturday, I took the kiddos to the Wytheville Library so they could get some "internet" time in. Since we live in B.F.E and can't get dial up (but can get Hughes net at $65.00/month - uh . . I think NOT) it was long overdue for them. Matt decided to spend part of his time making fun of the kid beside him watching "BIG FOOT" footage. However, after I reminded him of his time limit, he began to consume all of his time with Tiger Woods.

Kristin focused on Hannah Montana, Disney and Disney games. There was a guy beside her that put on ear plugs because she was playing a game that sounded like this: tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap . . . . . It was non stop - poor guy!
After groceries, we headed for B.F.E . . I mean home. (SMILE)
I spent some quality time with Kristin cleaning her room. GOOD LORD, I honestly could not believe what I came across. She is absolutely disgusting! I remember as a kid I had a dirty closet and had to clean it on a regular basis. OMG . . I was horrified as to things I found. This is NO LIE, I literally found DVD's not in their boxes to over 35 movies and their empty boxes in lots of different places. I found a half eaten biscuit, potato chip bags, candy/gum wrappers (she must be saving these for something because there were sooooo many), tags off of new clothes, and the list goes on. We took out 4 trash bags of SHIT! (sorry). I cannot tell you how frustrated I was. I had no clue what I was getting into. On a good note, I washed her bedding and hung it outside in the WIND to dry and I was so amazed that when I went into her room this morning, I could still smell that gorgeous outdoorsey smell!
I managed to develop some kind of bug that lasted until Sunday afternoon. I was nice enough to share it with Matt and JD. Luckily Kristin hasn't shown any signs; however she should after the pain I experienced in her room (Just kidding . . well, sorta). I then spent all Sunday evening disinfecting everything. Thanks to Clorox cleanup, my house now smells like a nursing home.

No blogging . .

Well, I have checked fellow bloggers pages and haven't seen any new updates on your pages as well. So I decided to ramble a little . .

This past week has been primarily uneventful; between working, eating, sleeping and cleaning there really isn't anything else to do! The weather has been nice but the cold is coming back for another spell. Thank goodness for Daylight Savings Time in March.

NO PAINTING this weekend. We still have half of the house to paint but we are taking a break for a couple weeks. I really want to get done but JD and I are totally exhausted!

ON a good note, Survivor Micronesia: Fans vs. Favorites premiered last night. I totally forgot! We have not been watching too awlful much tv so I guess I didn't see the commercials.

One of my favorite parts is seeing Jeff Probst is in his cute little khaki shorts and boots! I wish he would do a scene without his shirt! That would definitely be Survivor. After Survivor came the Apprentice and I got to see my other man Donald Trump in his sexy pink tie. I don't know what it is but man oh man. (I know Melis B long hair, short hair, bald, lots of hair, short, tall, tattoos, no tattoos, suits, jeans, t's and boots).

The Sweet Family also has a birthday coming up:

~ February 11, 2008 ~

Ice Ice Baby!!!

The National Weather service warned us of sleet and freezing rain and sleet and freezing rain is what we got. However, its bark was much worse than its bite! The roads were great this morning however I did not take into consideration the parking lot at work. I merely got my purse, lunch bag (both on my left arm) and had an umbrella in my left hand and it was off to work as usual. I took 3 maybe 4 steps and down I went. YUP... fell in the damn parking lot. My left pants leg is soaked, scunned my knee and totally banged up my pride! On the flip side, I didn't get my purse wet, didn't tear my pants nor did I break anything. I sure hope this is NOT a sign for the day or weekend!

Oh, in case you were wondering, we are painting again this weekend. hehehe.

Update on MIL: My MIL is doing great and is coming home today. We won't know the severity until the tests come back but they did remove a breast and her lymph nodes. Thank you all for praying with us, we are truly blessed to have your support!
