Christmas '07

Christmas came and went but we all enjoyed it so much!

The kids got everything they wanted and then some! I will post pics later.

Kristin's tops were her laptop, Zach Efron goodies, games and her purse. She just about cried when she opened her laptop. That was the only thing she really wanted and kept hounding us for.

Matt's tops were his "everything" Calloway! We surprised him with the new irons he wanted as well as the Calloway hat and warbirds balls. He also got his electric green Ogio bag. (Funny thing about the "electric green", JD and I kept asking him what it did. And he would look at us weird. Then I finally said, why is the bag electric? (as JD nods and questions with me). Matt then busts out laughing and says that the color is "electric green". Boy do I feel old!!!).

JD got a new buggy to race. (R/C cars). I also got him 2 VA Tech shirts, a VT boggin and a deer processing tool kit.

I got a new purse, bracelet, tennis shoes, croc mammoth's, a CD and a snowman snowglobe.

It was a fantastic year and I can't wait for you to see the pics.

I hope Santa was as good to you as he was to us!

Up next, our Wedding Anniversary! I will post how we celebrated it next week!

I survived

Our trip to Winchester was great. We didn't get to visit with everyone again however, we did manage to add a few more to the list! The dogs were very well behaved for the trip up and back. However, the children were a different story. The entire trip up on Sunday was very rainy. Traffic was light and uneventful.

Once we arrived in Winchester, we dropped our dogs off with the in-laws then checked into the hotel; which so graciously let us check in early. We then ventured to Walmart (pleasant valley). WHOA they went and changed everything around and we were soooooooo lost. After getting a few "last minute" items, we headed to JD's sister's house. We had a fabulous visit and really enjoyed the adult conversation.

We have only been gone since March but by the looks of everyone, it appears longer? Winchester has changed incredibly! Lots of new restaurants, businesses and of course road work. I guess I thought everything would just remain the same? Silly me...

We went to my mom's for dinner, played thieves christmas then opened gifts. It is a great time that we all enjoy. After dessert, we had to go since my mom had to work Christmas Eve and we had to get up early for breakfast at the Sweets.

We got back to the hotel and the boys watched the Redskins. I however, fell asleep. I must have been tired because I never sleep well away from home. Wouldn't you know JD and I woke up at 4:30am. UGH. We had to get Kristin some meds as she wasn't feeling very well.

We arrive at the Sweets' and the dogs went nuts. They were so glad to see us! I think we missed them as much, if not more than they missed us. After breakfast, gifts and visiting, it was time to get on the road. We hated to leave after only a couple hours but we were all ready to get HOME!!!

I must confess, I enjoyed the visit but I was glad it was only a visit!

From our family to yours . .

Merry Christmas

More Stewart pics

Kristin was at it again with Stewart last night. She treats him like he is her child. Between putting clothes on him, wrapping him like a baby or trying to put a baby diaper on him its pathetic. Do I feel sorry for the dog? At times he looks at me like he is begging me to break him free from her reign. Then there are the other times when he is jumping up into her arms for continuous care.

These pics are Stewart ready for the Hokies at the Orange bowl! (Hokie Jersey, Hokie stadium seat and Hokie bird looking over his head)

Stewart all tuckered out from his photo shoot.

He is just too cute for words!

Here are JD and Matt playing Tiger Woods Golf on Matts' Xbox 360 that he finally got back. Due to the "3 rings of death", it has been back and forth to repair for 6 weeks. I am SOOOOOOOOO glad it is fixed.

Messy room . . ugh!!!

Tuesday morning started as it always does. My husband gets ready for work then gets me up at 6:00am to begin my morning routine. However, little did I know Tuesday was going to be a crappy day! I turned on the shower and proceeded to get in. However, the water stopped. I turned off the faucet waited about 2 minutes then turned it back on (like 2 minutes is really telling me something). NO WATER. I call JD and tell him we have no water. Thankfully the kids took showers the night before, however, no water to brush teeth. I then diligently call for service. $125.oo later, frozen! Apparently we don't have a pressure tank. We have a pressure switch that froze. Now we have to have a pressure tank installed so we don't have this problem again.

Now a little recap: Hottest day of Summer - A/C breaks, First cold day of Winter - Heat pump stops working, 1 week before Christmas - No water. Knowing that I am counting correctly, that is 3 things right? The ole' saying, bad things travel in 3's. I should be good to go for our trip to Winchester.

~Great Times~

This past weekend was another great weekend! We woke up Saturday morning to cold temps and drizzle. I made a big pot of Vegetable soup from all of the veggies we grew this past summer. I really enjoyed eating what I had worked so hard to grow and harvest!

Saturday night JD and I attended his work Christmas party. What a great time we had!!! Everyone is sooo nice. They gave away TONS and TONS of prizes. Everyone got a gift and some people got 2 (thanks to people leaving early). JD originally won a stocked tackle box, however, someone wanted to trade with him. Believe it or not, he traded for 2 Virginia Tech stadium seats! WOO HOO, much better trade. I honestly couldn't think of who I could have possibly re-gifted that for! hehehe

There was one guy I sat beside that thought he could get one over on me. Well, he was wrong! He managed to put an empty coke can and the caterers salt and pepper shakers in my purse. (This was done to me last year by Alan Hardestly at the Lincoln Mortgage Christmas Party). When the man was dancing, I put pepper in his drink. To my surprise, he drank the whole thing. I then see him taking his jacket off because he was getting hot. He brought another drink to the table and walked away. I then explained to his wife what he had done to me and how I was repaying the favor. I then put more pepper in his drink. While he was drinking it, I noticed he was picking flecks out of his mouth. He then turns to his wife and tells her his lips are on fire! OOPS!!! He figured it out. I just said, "PAYBACKS".

Sunday morning we woke to no power and ICE, ICE, ICE!!! Max loves to eat ice!

JD started the generator and I made breakfast. We watched the movie Shooter with Mark Wahlberg. If you haven't seen it, you must! It is fantastic; and so is he! After the movie, Kristin and I played her favorite game, Mall Madness! She managed to beat me both times we played. I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but she can spend money better than me? Is that even possible? hmmmmm. We never left the house. The power was restored by 1:30 and then I began to wrap presents.
I finished all of the wrapping except for the few items that are delivering this week. Then the inevitable happened. I honestly got the shock of my life! I was wrapping the kids "stocking stuffers" and Kristin came over to me and started picking the wrapped things up. She looks at me and says, "Are these for Matt's stocking?" I of course said, YES. Her face got very pale and tears welled up in her eyes and she said, "You mean you are Santa?" OMG, I honestly thought she knew. Her dad told her last year but I guess she didn't believe him. My heart sank. She cried for over an hour. She was so disappointed with me. She called me a liar, she told me that I was mean to "continue to lie to her that way". It really broke my heart. I then had to be a "mommy" and explain that I was upset to because I no longer had that magical surprise on Christmas Morning when they would open their gifts and be thrilled beyond belief that the man dressed in red remembered exactly what they wanted. I then played the "when you have kids . . ." speech. She wasn't buying it at all. Her look of disappointment for me was completely heart retching! It is a look that I will always remember.

Last day of warmth

Yesterday it reached 75 degrees! It was absolutely beautiful. (Even though I would love to see SNOW). Today is supposed to be our last day in the 70's. Just to put it all into perspective with the old saying, "what goes around comes around". Well, it will be coming around in the form of really bad weather. This enjoyable 3 days of 70 degrees is coming back to us in the form of ICE. It is supposed to be really yucky starting with rain this evening and all day tomorrow. Friday, temps dropping and then Saturday S.S.F. UGH!!! Oh well, we enjoyed the weather while it lasted.

Warm temps again!!!

Yesterday's temp was 73 degrees. We are supposed to reach 70 degrees again today. It is so strange seeing the kids going to school in shorts and t-shirts in December.

We are supposed to get cold again this weekend. I think the high of 45 degrees is projected.

70+ degrees...

Today's temperature . . . . warm! I just ran out at lunch (12:30) and it is 70 degrees. This weather is so stupid. I want COLD temps for the holidays. After the first of the year, I could care less!!!

JD and I spent lots of time walking through the woods. We collected pine cones, greenery and red berries for baskets in the house. They look so festive and didn't even cost us anything! Gotta love those decorations.
We also "scouted" out the raspberry bushes for next spring. JD was so nice to cut pathes in the woods so I can get to them better! AWWWW

Guess what we woke up to this morning? Snow..Sleet..Freezing Rain! UGH... School was on a two hour delay again and I slid all over the road to work this morning.

I actually just heard that school busses are literally finding a "safe" place to pull off the road and sit until the temps begin to rise. Oh now thats safe! Sometimes I wonder what provokes certain decisions during the winter weather months.
My headaches are gone and I am soooo relieved. I think it might be a tumor.... It's not a tumor . . . . (Thanks Arnold)

I am going to try to squeeze in some time to go to the movies. I really want to see P.S., I love you. However, the kids wanna go bowling so I may have to use some MOM persuasion....hehehe. It isn't as easy as it used to be.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

The Clipper that wasn't!

Well, we didn't get any snow! Okay, we got a dusting that blew away. Don't you love the new name they have for these "fast moving" storms? Its a Clipper! I have managed to hang on to this headache for the 4th day in a row now. I hope it goes away soon! I hate headaches!!!! I'm glad to see Winchester got snow, however, my friend Alana was in a horrific car wreck that totalled her vehicle and left her quite banged up. Take it easy girlie and get well soon!

On another note, if anyone has any suggestions on what to get a Mom that has absolutely everything and duplicates of the everything in the closet, please help! Gift cards just aren't going to cut it! I got her one card but it feels like I didn't put any thought into it; even though I did.

Congrats Kristin on making the Honor Roll for the first time in your life!!! You worked very hard and it really paid off! Congrats Matt on making the Honor Roll as well! You didn't work hard, hehehe. (must be nice).

70% Chance of Precipitation!!!

We are sooo excited. They are calling for a 70% chance of precipitation tonight into tomorrow morning. We could get 1 - 3" of SNOW! The kiddos will be excited because they probably won't have school since they cancel schools when there is a chance of snow!

A great weekend!!!

This past weekend was by far one of the best weekends ever! Virginia Tech beat BC and captured the ACC Championship and are going to the ORANGE BOWL!!!! It was also a good weekend because WVU LOST. My son loves WVU and I woke him up at 6am on Sunday morning to consistently "rub it in" that WVU lost. They are however going to the Fiesta Bowl . . whooppee!

The kids and I baked cookies. Well, Kristin and I started making Gingerbread men and about halfway through, she quit. Matt then decides he wants to help. He helped finish the Gingerbread cookies and helped me start with the sugar cookies; then he decides to quit. I managed to finish them myself. However, they both were ready to pose when I wanted to take pictures . . go figure! I know I baked 10-12 dozen. Too fun! I also made 2 batches of Chex Mix! It is yummy too!

JD and I split wood since some bad weather is on its way to the NRV! As soon as we got outside, it started to rain. Amazing since we haven't had rain in months! Actually it just sprinkled, however, last night about 11:00 it POURED! I watched Amazing Race then finished the night with the Hallmark Hall of Fame movie, Pictures of Hollis Woods. What a wonderful movie!

Here is Kristin posing with Stewart and Max. They love Christmas as much as I do! I was hoping you would be able to see their Holiday bling as they both have on their Christmas collars. (Red with green ribbons and green bells).
