GO HOKIES ! ! ! !

Weekend Update

I hope everyone had a safe and Happy Thanksgiving. Our trip was VERY fast and we didn't get time to really visit anyone. We ate, played catch-up then we got on the road for home.

We will be staying longer for the Christmas holiday. Therefore, I WILL be making time for visits.

Well, Kristin got her contacts on Saturday. She was so excited. She has an astigmatism like her dad so she had to get the "EXPENSIVE" contacts. WOO HOO... She did really good getting them in. Here she is after putting both eyes in. We went home and she did GREAT all weekend. Until this morning. . . she yells that she can't find one. I go and look and sure enough, its in there. However, when she put it in the case Sunday night, she didn't make sure it was completely in and when she put the lid on the case, she cut it in half when the lid was screwed on. UGH!!!! Thank goodness these were a trial pair. Now she has to wait again until they come in. It was very traumatic this morning!!!

Here is a pic of JD and Matt (Saturday) getting ready to go out to their tree stands. They love their mad bombers and needed them as it was FREEZING cold on Saturday. We never saw temps above 32 degrees. (I call them dumb and dumberer) . Dorks!

Kristin and I baked JD's favorite cookies - Gingersnaps then I made another batch of peanut brittle. I will be making another cookie favorite of JD's tonight; Gingerbread.

What I am thankful for . . .

Well, my travel plans have completely BLOWN UP in my face; as usual. My husband was going to be working the day after Thanksgiving but we find out yesterday (Yea - Tuesday) that he is off both days. Now that just changes everything. We have no place to take the dogs (all boarders are booked - DUH), we don't want to take the dogs and burden others so we have resorted to departing for Winchester at 5am on Thursday morning. Quick visits, snarfle down our food and be back on the road no later than 6:30p so that we can get home to the dogs.

We were going to bring both vehicles (me come to Winc on Wed afternoon, husband on Thurs morning), but thank you President Bush and your WAR for the gas prices. Two vehicles would cost us in fuel alone - $360.00 ~ YIKES! versus one vehicle at $160.00. YEA, I'll travel all in one day.

I am thankful the Christmas holiday is in exactly 31 days. This gives me plenty of time to call a boarder for the dogs and "HAVE BETTER PLANS". Not going to go through this again. I have a headache, my stomach hurts and if I eat, I feel sick; Here's to the Holidays!

OH yea, I am thankful I am NOT Britney Spears' mother!

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!!!

This is my last post until after the Thanksgiving Holiday upon returning from my "home town" Winchester.

If anyone would like to add a comment as to what you are most thankful for,
I would be "THANKFUL" for that!!!
For me, I am thankful I have health, happiness and the wealth of love for family and friends!!!! I am thankful for the memories of loved ones that have passed. I am thankful my children have food in their bellies and clothes on their backs. Electricity that keeps them warm and the water to keep them clean.
May you all enjoy your families and friends during the Thanksgiving Holiday!

What a weekend!!!

The Sweet Family went to the last Virginia Tech home game versus the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday. It was FANTASTIC. Here is a picture of JD' s truck before we began eating
Here are the kids after eating lunch; . . . well, Kristin really never stops eating!

After eating, we headed for Lane Stadium! JD got a smoked Turkey leg. He managed to "woof" it down before any of us could try it nor could I get a pic of him looking like the "caveman" that he is! hehehe (we have been told it tastes like ham but the kids and I won't know until next season). It was very cold but we were lucky the wind died down)
Here is Kristin all Hokie'd out...

The Hokies beat the Miami Hurricanes: 44 - 14 ! ! ! ! GO HOKIES ! ! ! !

Weekend Update

This past Saturday was the First day of Muzzleloader Season for Deer Hunting. JD and Matt got up at 5:30am, got all camo'd out and headed to their tree stands for the hunt. This is a dream come true for JD and Matt as before, they would have to drive to their prospective hunting site. Now, they just roll out of bed, dress and head into the woods on our land! Matt was ecstatic because this is his first year to hunt on his own. (JD is however close by).

Only 30 minutes after Matt gets into his tree stand, POW. He got the first deer of the season. This is only Matt's second deer ever!! Doesn't he look excited?
To Alana:
I ate a steak last night and it was so good!!! Have you had a deer steak yet this season? Also, Jerky is going on the dehydrator at 4:00pm this afternoon!!! Don't you wish you were here to smell it! I'll think of you when I eat the first piece!
Love, Matt.
Sunday was outside catch up day. I didn't realize how much we had to do until we started. We dug up bulbs, put Halloween deco's away, put the hardtop on the Jeep, closed the pond and lit the woodstove! (finally some real heat). Just in time too, its 70+ degrees here now. The house should be good and hot when we get home from work today!
Monday: Matt had another dr. appointment today and he was madder than a wet hornet as he had to have blood drawn again. I tried to simmer him by explaining that with Diabetes this is an ongoing process, however, he didn't have any parts of it! His doctor is trying to get his medication moderated but Matt is not cooperating at all! Therefore, anyone with young children, it doesn't get better with age! A needle is a needle . . enough said!
Everyone have a great week!
---> 8 more days until the Sweets' land in Winchester!!! We hope to see as many of you as physically possible; we promise!!!

Forecast: Snow?

This morning while watching the news, the meteorologist said that we could see snow this afternoon. What? did he say the "S" word? UGH...not already. I have already been informed that Wythe County will close schools because they are calling for snow.
The temp this morning was a FREAKING COLD 22 degrees. (I haven't worn a coat yet but I am very close to getting it out).
~Welcome Winter ~

Weekend re-cap

This past weekend didn't start off very well. Kristin has been having problems with a girl on the bus picking on her. She has done VERY well to contain herself (for about a month) but it blew! Kristin told this girl to stop running her mouth and the girl (Whitney-I hate this name anyway! ) said why, you can't do anything about it. Kristin then told her she would smack her in the mouth if she didn't stop. Whitney then said and I quote, "bring it on". Well, to say the least, Kristin brought it and served it up for her. Apparently Kristin threw quite a few punches at her then Whitney sat down and shut up. I guess Kristin surprised her. Kristin told the admin's. at school, I took all I was going to take. This brings me to Friday; Kristin got two days of after school detention that will require me to go and pick her up! UGH!!!
JD had to work Saturday and Sunday so it was me and the kids again. It was off to Christiansburg. We LOVE it there. (It reminds me a lot of Winchester, ONLY not nearly as much traffic). The kids and I needed to get haircuts! YES, I said haircut. I had to "bite the bullet" and get my hair done. I found a girl that I really liked. She listened and did my hair exactly the way I wanted it! I even had it colored and it is perfect!!! Score one for me!!!

Sunday we went back to Christiansburg because we ran out of time and I didn't get to go to the new "strip mall" that just opened. Pet Smart, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, Old Navy and Shoe Carnival. We really enjoyed Best Buy. (I have never been in one). It is basically a Circuit City. When we went into B,B and B, Matt kept sayingthat he wanted me to buy a universal remote so he could fast forward time! (Adam Sandlers' movie Click). It was a neat store and it is basically a Linens' and things (Which we don't have). We went to Dick's Sporting to get Matt's hunting clothes then went to lunch to Red Robin. (Love me some Red Robin!!!). Christiansburg also is the closest place to us that has a Chik-fil-A. BAD NOTE: There is NO Chili's anywhere down here......sniff, sniff, tear!
We were also happy to see the Redskins pull off another win!!! The evening wound down to Amazing Race 12! I think it is going to be a great season. Too early to tell. I was way surprised in the Doodlebops though! They are very good together. Well see. (I am sorry to say this and I know I will pay for it, but when the grandfather fell down, I fell out! All I could think of is the catch phrase, i've fallen and I can't get up)!
Everyone have a great week!!!

Halloween Night

Well, the kids don't trick-or-treat anymore and we live in an area where there are NO trick-or-treaters. It was the first time in 14 years that I didn't do anything on Halloween. Kinda weird! To say the least, it was BORING!

Kristin and I did carve pumpkins. Well, Kristin carved her pumpkin about 2 weeks because she couldn't wait until it got closer. Matt was supposed to carve his but kept forgetting so I quickly carved it. Can u guess which one is which? (the black mold should give it away)! BTW - her pumpkin does have a candle in it!!!

Here is Kristin (as usual) posing for the camera! (see Moldy) EWWW he is scary!

Alana and Josey Trick-or-treating in Winchester!!! What a cute clown!!! I can hear her now, come on MOM, lets get the goods!!! Looks like she had a great time. I wish I could have been there!
